This year’s Sea Breeze is planned to involve about 3,000 personnel, 30 ships, 30 aircraft, 18 special-purpose teams and diving teams.
This was announced by the Commander of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Rear Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa.
– Last year, significant restrictions were imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so there were no ships calling at Ukrainian ports. This year the training will be held in full. Marine, coastal, air and diving components will be involved. In addition, the composition of the coastal component has been significantly increased, it will be about a thousand servicemen from around the world. More than in last year’s Sea Breeze, foreign equipment will be involved. In particular, planes and helicopters from the American side will take part in the exercise, – Rear Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa noted.
– The main feature of the training is the significant interest of the world community in this event, as evidenced by the record number of member states, units of which will participate both directly and as staff officers or observers. In total, it is planned to involve about 3,000 personnel, 30 ships, 30 aircraft, 18 special purpose teams and diving teams, – said the Commander of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Rear Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa.
The multinational exercise “Sea Breeze-2021” will begin in a few days in the north-western part of the Black Sea, as well as in Mykolayiv, Kherson and Odessa regions. Its main idea is to increase the level of interoperability of Ukrainian and US Navy units and NATO Partner countries in carrying out joint tasks to maintain maritime regional security and ensure peace and stability in the Black Sea region.
– All elements of Sea Breeze 2021 training are planned and will be developed in accordance with NATO standards and procedures. Soldiers of the Ukrainian Navy together with partners will perform tasks at sea and in the air, on land and under water. The use of all components of training will be managed by the Naval Command of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which provides interaction and management of international, interspecific, intergeneric and interdepartmental groups, – said the head of the National Navy Rear Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa.

Sea Breeze exercises are multinational military exercises conducted on the territory of Ukraine since 1997 in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the Field of Defense and Military Relations between the Ministries of Defense of the United States and Ukraine from 1993. Ukraine and the United States are co-organizers of the exercises.
