About 30 Marines of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine participated in the multinational training ‘Platinum Eagle – 2018-1’ which took place at the Babadag field in Romania. The main goal of the event was to carry out the military reconciliation of the assault platoon in the multinational company, to improve the skills of fire department control and platoon, and to work out various tactical maneuvers.
International training took place in two stages – firing in a division with the subsequent transition to an offensive and an offensive platoon on the run with firing, with the involvement of artillery. According to the commander of the multinational battalion of Lieutenant Colonel Siprian Balica, the Marines of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine coped with the task well.
In addition to the elements of the engagement, the participants learned about the different types of small arms of the Armed Forces of the United States and Romania, as well as NATO tactical and technical procedures for firing, which was used during the training on the offensive section and the platoon on the offensive’.
The importance of the participation of Ukrainian Navy representatives in the multinational training ‘Platinum Eagle-2018-1’ within the framework of the training of the ‘Black Sea Region Rotary Forces’ is determined by the need to maintain and develop military cooperation with the armed forces of NATO member states and partner countries, improving professional skills and acquiring the required level of interoperability, familiarization and development of the tactical and technical procedures according to the standards of the North Atlantic Alliance.
