‘Visit of the ship is the next step of the Great Britain in support of Ukraine’

As part of a friendly visit to Ukraine of the Royal Navy ship (UK), ‘Echo’, which arrived in Odessa on December 19, hosted a protocol meeting between the Naval Forces delegations of the two countries. Chief of Staff – First Deputy Commander of the Naval Forces of Ukraine Armed Forces Vice Admiral Andriy Tarasov noted that this is the first visit of a warship to Ukraine after events in the Kerch Strait and it is very important for our state. He thanked his colleagues for supporting Ukraine in the struggle for independence and defending their rights, defined by the norms of international maritime law and existing treaties. Vice Admiral Andriy Tarasov noted that our strength lies precisely in the unity and powerful support of the partner countries, and the United Kingdom is one of the first who always comes to the aid and is a reliable friend even in difficult situations.

Head of the Delegation of the Royal Naval Force, commander of the ship captain 2nd rank Matthew Warren expressed the words of support by the United Kingdom of Ukraine and Ukrainian military seamen who are in captivity of the Russian Federation. The commander of the ship also noted that today’s visit is Britain’s next step in supporting Ukraine and stressed the importance of uniting efforts to ensure security in the Black Sea region.

The parties also discussed the current situation in the Azov-Black Sea region, directions of bilateral cooperation and ways of its improvement. The visit of the ship will last until December 22 of the current year.
