In the northern part of the Black Sea, the crew of the small armored artillery boat of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ‘Vyshgorod’ conducted joint exercises like ‘PASSEX’ with the Barbaros frigate and Marti missile boat of the Naval Forces of the Republic of Turkey.

Joint maneuvers of the ships of the two countries took place against the background of the annual maritime exercises of the Turkish navy ‘Blue Motherland’. It should be noted that during this year’s exercises, practically simultaneously, 67 Turkish military units will be visited by forty foreign ports in the Marmara, Aegean and Black Seas. In particular, a frigate and a missile boat will arrive in Georgian Batumi, in the Romanian Constanta will be a frigate and minesweeper, while the Bulgarian port of Varna will visit a frigate and a submarine.

In the course of joint training, Ukrainian artillery boats and Turkish ships carried out tasks for tactical maneuvering in orders and warfare, air defense training, and conducted communication training in accordance with NATO standards. And this was another step towards deepening cooperation between the two countries’ fleets and increasing the level of interoperability, which aims to strengthen stability and security in the Black Sea region.

According to First Deputy Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Rear Admiral Alexei Neyzhpapy, the participation of the Ukrainian crew in joint exercises testifies to the systematic cooperation of the national fleet with the fleets of NATO countries. He noticed that since the beginning of the year, this is the first study of the type ‘PASSEX’ in the Black Sea with the participation of the Ukrainian ship.
